Preserving the patriot spirit through service, education, and leadership
Twickenham Town Chapter, Chartered in 1908
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a lineage society that is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) charitable organization dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. We help educate students and recognize the special accomplishments of young people. We work to preserve our history and historical sites. We welcome our new citizens and introduce them to life in America and help care for our veterans and their families.
Bonding Through Service
Daughters of the American Revolution. We share in common that we can trace our lineage to at least one ancestor who contributed to the success of the American Revolution. These are the men and women who established the foundation of a country that became the beacon for millions of people. Some of our ancestors fought in the battles; others provided materiel or transportation; and some served the beginnings of an American civil society, e.g., judges and state representatives.
Maybe you don’t believe you have any American patriot ancestors. Perhaps there are no family stories about ancestors who served during the Revolution. But there is a good chance that you DO have at least one patriot. Each of us has many ancestors if we go back seven generations. We can help you discover your lineage. |
Why do women wish to join the NSDAR? I think it is due to Bonding Through Service. Members of the Twickenham Town Chapter, NSDAR thrive in service for others.
We encourage you to contact us if you are looking for a group of compatible women who enjoy service in the name of historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Come for the satisfying work; form lasting friendships.

- We clean historic cemeteries, place markers on the graves of our Revolutionary War patriots, recognize the civic contributions of suffragists, among other activities, and we bond with each other as we work to preserve history.
- We go into the classrooms of the students in the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School and in local Huntsville schools to improve student literacy, support the teachers in their efforts to form self-sufficient members of our community, and we form the bonds of friendship through the support of education.
- We recognize Vietnam War-era veterans, share our company with veterans at Tut Fann State Veterans home, support service members overseas, and we bond together through our service work.
We encourage you to contact us if you are looking for a group of compatible women who enjoy service in the name of historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Come for the satisfying work; form lasting friendships.
